In the middle of March thirteen enthusiastic students from Years 7 to 9 spent ten unforgettable days in the Czech Republic as part of our exchange programme with our partner school in Prague.
During their stay in Modřany, Prague 12, the students gained a genuine insight into everyday life in another country. It was a wonderful opportunity to practise their language skills, experience new and engaging subjects and get to know a Montessori school abroad. The students took part in a wide range of lively lessons and activities that their Czech counterparts had thoughtfully prepared and some even helped to cook lunch for the whole group.
Of course, the programme also included plenty of time to explore the beautiful and historic city of Prague. Together with their hosts and teachers – Linda Marshall, Julia Obermaier and Sarah Best – the students visited some of the city’s most famous landmarks, learned more about Czech history and culture and enjoyed several fascinating trips and activities around the city. These included a visit to Kutná Hora to discover how silver was once minted into coins as well as excursions to the impressive Vyšehrad Fortress and the magnificent Klementinum Library.
We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the generous host families for opening their homes and making our students feel so warmly welcomed. We are also very grateful to Martina, Jarka, Petra, Tomas and Anna as well as all the other dedicated staff at our partner school, whose hard work and commitment made this year’s exchange such a successful and memorable experience for everyone involved.
